I like to explore the related forums that discuss about website and I often hear people ask, “which one is the best free hosting services…?”

For your information, I also fall into this problem before. The confusion on which one should I choose whether to buy pay-hosting, free hosting or blogging from blogspot only. At that time I just use free hosting, but I don’t recommend you all to use it. 000webhost.com is the most favourite free web hosting that I used. 000webhost.com has one of my sites that based on Joomla. Error often occurred when I want to go to Admin part. The worst of all is the server always down and I hate it so much.

Actually, web hosting is not a big deal

From my point of view, I think hosting is not a big problem for someone who just wants to create a blog and share something without any other purpose. If you don’t have any intention to purchase paid hosting, just use any of the free blog service such as blogspot.com or wordpress.com. Again, I’m not recommending you to use free hosting though.

The only problem here is the domain name that you will use. There are some bloggers who don’t want to buy their own domain will use free domain like blogspot.com or wordpress.com. The major problem will arise soon when they want to move to paid hosting. Domain name is the most important asset for a blogger and changing your domain name is something stupid for me. This is because the rank given by Alexa, backlinks and SERP (Search Engine Ranking Position) from the old domain can’t be transferred to the new one. You need to build all of them again from the very beginning.

Put your own domain at wordpress.com or blogspot.com

I propose blogspot.com and wordpress.com because their services allow us to use our own domain name. So you can buy any domain name that you love and point it to blogspot.com or wordpress.com. You can avoid any problem that may occur if you want to move to the paid hosting by using blogspot.com or wordpress.com. This is because you can still maintain your domain name value by using the same domain for the paid hosting.

Import posting from your old blog easily

I believe that most of us don’t know that we can also use the system provided by wordpress even though we host our blog by our self. We can import all of our posts from old blog to the new one. It’s easy and comprehensive. Not necessarily from wordpress.com or blogspot.com, it also can import old posts and comments from other several well-known free blog services like blogdrive and TypePad.

Having SEF (Search Engines Friendly) URL

Other advantages if you are blogging with blogspot.com and wordpress is the search engine friendly URL. The only matter here, if you want to switch to a new host, can you maintain this feature? The answer is yes if you use wordpress blogging software since we can create the desirable URL by using Permalink tool that is offered by the software. We need to make sure that the URL structure from the old blog is the same with the new blog. This is important to maintain your ranking in SERP.

Blogspot.com vs WordPress.com

Since both sites provide a balanced and good services, which one should you choose? If you want to robust blogging system, wordpress.com is the good one. But do remember that wordpress.com does not allow users involved with adsense especially paid blogging. In other hand, it is easy for us to put adsense in blogspot.com. Unfortunately, many of us do not really like with blogspot.com’s comment system. Lastly, it’s depends on you whether to choose the best blogging system or money.

Not enough money to buy a domain name?

If you are still not enough money to buy a domain, you can use your free domain Co.cc like me. But I am not recommending you this for several reasons. One of the reasons is free domain name not worth to sell.

Besides that, co.cc free domain is only free for nonprofit website. If you used the domain for commercial purpose such as advertisement and paid review, you need to pay USD 3 for the next year. So, it is better to buy your own .com domain name for USD 8 per year.

In conclusion, the type of web hosting that you use for blogging doesn’t really matter as long as you have your own domain name.
